My name is Mona Maruyama and I’m a tattoo artist from San Diego, CA.
[Pronouns She/They]
I’m a proud Berklee College of Music dropout and have a 15 year background in professional art and design. I started tattooing as a way to support Ryukyuan Hajichi revival efforts and ended up falling in love with the entire practice. From sentimental to silly, I’m open to many custom design ideas but my favorites will always be bold ornamental flowers, big flames, and generally illustrative styles.
I’m inspired by animism, visuals from the other world, traditional Japanese art, bold Jomon era blackwork tattoos, and the resilience in every person I’ve ever met.
